Make space for your New Year's goals
This was my first week back at work after my two and half week holiday staycation, and wow, was it intense! Over vacation, I chose my intentions for 2012 and started working on them. This week I jumped back into my usual responsibilities and tried to casually toss the new goals into my current juggling act.
Much to my disappointment, I dropped a lot of balls. It turns out that I am not super woman, and despite really wanting to, I cannot do it all. This lesson comes up in my life again, and again. I hope someday I will master the art of realistic expectations, but meanwhile, I keep working on it.
Do you do this too?
Trying to add the new intentions into the already full schedule just doesn't work.
I suspect this is why so many New Year's resolutions fall by the wayside. It's just not possible to add in something new without taking away something that was already there. We might be infinite creatures in creative and spiritual ways, but our time and energy is firmly limited. There are only so many hours and so many things we can do in one day.
So, on Monday, when reality set in, I had a choice. I could either stay in denial and keep trying to defy the laws of time and productivity, or I could face the truth. My current set of commitments left me no time, energy or space to work on my goals. I was so busy for much of 2011, I hardly had time off for socializing or relaxing, which is why I needed my staycation so badly. If there is no time to recharge, there is definitely no time for working on new projects.
I had to make space.
I needed to figure out which things to release so that there could be some room for the new projects and goals to be cultivated.
I wrote up a list of all the little jobs around The Healing Center that I decided to release, and I put it out to the community that help was needed in order for these things to continue. To my delight, the majority of these jobs were snapped up, and I am trusting that the rest will find new owners soon.
I am in the process of transitioning and training others to take these loving tasks over, so I can focus on the things closest to my heart this year. Things like publishing my Reiki manuals and teacher training materials, making my Heart Centered Entrepreneur Kits available to you on my website, and writing my book.
And, of course, the things we all seem to want to cultivate like: losing weight, eating better, having fun and romance. What do you need to let go of so you can make space for cultivating new projects, goals and intentions in 2012?
